Swing Easy

SE2
The Hamilton Jazz Society proudly presents SWING EASY in concert, Sunday 30thSeptember, 4.30-7.30pm at the Waikato Commerce Club, 197 Collingwood Street, Hamilton Central.

Swing Easy comprises Lorraine Havill (vocal), John Wilcox (piano), Glyn Frewin (double bass), and Owen Kneebone (drums). Lorraine and John have been musical colleagues since the early 1980s, with Glyn and Owen joining them in a quartet more recently.

Aucklander Lorraine Havill is a vocalist like no other, her singing career has seen her perform in theatre and alongside with many of the country's finest performers over the years. With a love of jazz and blues, her sultry voice is a show stopper. A long-time member of Capella choir Jubilation, this is an opportunity for fans to savour Havill's talent.

Owen Kneebone has played drums in The Society Jazzmen, among other popular bands, and John Wilcox, the band's pianist, founded The Bridge City Jazzmen. Meanwhile Glyn Frewin, the bassist, is well known for his ability to play a variety of styles.

“I now know why they are called SWING EASY – a really awesome, bluesy band. Lorraine Havill with her velvet voice just added that extra dimension. Each band member have their own wonderful talent... Individually they were great, together awesome.” Rotorua Jazz Club

Do join us. It’s a lovely way to wind down the weekend, meet up with friends and enjoy some great music.
