Znote Jazz Band
The Hamilton Jazz Society proudly present Znote Jazz Band in concert, 4.30-7.30pm, Sunday 31stMarch, at the Waikato Commerce Club, 197 Collingwood Street, Hamilton.

Playing as part of The International Five in April last year who wowed us last year, Zimieel, Yolanda and Caylen, join us this month along with saxophonist Johsua Dann to bring us the Znote Jazz Band. I am sure we will be every much as impressed again.

Zimieel
I am a musician specialising in keyboards. Originally from South Africa, I have decided to call NZ home. For 25 years I was the Gospel and Jazz Keyboardist for the Solid Foundation Gospel Band & Youth Choir in CapeTown, South Africa. Along with my wife Yolanda, I ran the choir for much of that time, training youth to sing and understand music. I have been in New Zealand for 3 years where I have been a music tutor, session musician and have been involved in many music groups from churches throughout the North Island to Jazz and music societies. I am currently working as a Music Therapist for the Community Living Trust. In 2019 I won the Korg Australasian Grammar award for Chord Progression (Keyboardist) & Music Production.

Yolanda
I am also originally from South Africa and have been a vocalist for many groups over the last 25 years including the Solid Foundation Gospel Band & Youth Choir in CapeTown, South Africa. I shifted to New Zealand a year ago and am enjoying using my vocal talent in Jazz and Gospel around the North Island.

Caylen
I am a guitarist, bassist and film composer from New York. I have had the privilege of working with musicians from around the world. In 2010 I went to study at the Los Angeles College of Music (LACM). I graduated with a degree in guitar performance and then went on to study composition for film/TV, graduating in 2015. I worked as a session musician in Los Angeles for a few years before moving to New Zealand where I continue to write, record and perform.

Josh
Hi there! My name is Joshua Dann, I grew up in Palmerston North and recently moved up to Hamilton to work at the hospital as a radiographer. I have since started getting into the Hamilton music scene. I play a few different instruments but my main is the saxophone which I have enjoyed getting back into with a few people I have met here in Hamilton. My music journey started off in 2003 on the clarinet which I quickly moved onto the tenor saxophone which I have loved playing for many years now. I started off playing in a jazz combo at my school with a bunch of friends doing all sorts of gigs from weddings to the Honda Jazz car release. I have since been a part of bands at church, my own covers band, and the Swamp City Big Band on Tenor 1 which is one of the big bands in Palmerston North. I have performed at a few bigger gigs including New Years in the Square in Palmerston North.

Do join us for a relaxed way to wind down the weekend, enjoy some great music and company. Meals, snack and refreshments are available for purchase from the Club.
