Hamilton Big Band
Hamilton Big Band is a diverse group of musicians bringing you a variety of old-fashioned dance music in Waltz, Latin, and Swing styles, as well as Rock ‘n Roll and contemporary Pop / Rock tunes in the Big Band style. With music from the 40s to 80s by artists from Count Basie and Glenn Miller to Norah Jones, James Brown and Elvis Presley to Huey Lewis you’re sure to have a toe-tapping good time swinging through the decades with us!

The band comprises 16, and sometimes more, members playing saxophones, trumpets, and trombones over a foundation of guitar, piano, bass and drums. Although the core repertoire of the band focuses on the swing and ballroom dance music of the “Big Band Era” with tunes by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Carlos Antonio Jobim and Gershwin to name a few, the unique energy of the Big Band format ensures that musicians continue to write and arrange more contemporary jazz, pop and rock music for the ensemble. As a result, Hamilton Big Band performs songs previously made famous by artists such as Norah Jones, James Brown and David Lee Roth. There have been times when the band has even played songs arranged by their own talented members!

Hamilton Big Band performs regularly around the Waikato region for charitable events, weddings, parties and corporate functions.
